The ratio of the total visible solar energy that can be transmitted through a glazing system to the total visible solar energy that reaches the glazing system. In other words, this parameter represents the percentage of visible light that is transmitted directly through the glazing system to which the film is installed. The higher the parameter, the brighter the color of the film.

The total percentage of solar energy transmitted through the glass system that is blocked. The higher the number, the better the heat blocking.

The percentage of total ultraviolet energy that is blocked from passing through the glazing system. The higher the number, the better the UV protection. UV rays cause fading and aging of furniture.

The percentage of total infrared energy that is blocked from passing through the glazing system. Infrared rays are the main heat carriers in sunlight. The higher the number, the better the heat blocking ability.

The performance of a safety film is based solely on its thickness. Thicker films will have a higher breaking point, meaning they will absorb more impact force in pounds per square inch (LB/inch²), making it harder for the film to penetrate the window. Film thickness is measured in “Mil” (1 Mil = 25 Microns = 0.025 Millimeters).

After installation is complete:

• Avoid touching, scrubbing or cleaning the film: Most films require time (usually around 30 days for safety films and 7 days for some solar control films) to fully bond to the glass. Avoid touching, scrubbing or cleaning the film during this time to avoid damage or peeling.
• Don’t roll down your windows (for cars): If window film is installed on your car, avoid rolling down your windows for at least 24 hours after installation. This allows the film to bond to the glass.

During use:

• Use appropriate cleaning products: To clean window film, avoid using harsh chemicals, ammonia-based cleaners, abrasive cleaners or sharp objects. Use a microfiber cloth or soft sponge with a mild, pH-neutral soap solution.
• Be gentle: When cleaning the film, avoid using excessive force as this may scratch or damage the film.
• Watch for flaking or bubbling (if present): While some small bubbles may disappear during use, if you notice persistent bubbles, flaking or discoloration after a period of use, contact your installer for assistance.

• Park in the shade: Excessive exposure to direct sunlight, especially during initial installation, can affect the performance and longevity of the film.
• Window Glass Maintenance: Regularly clean your windows according to the film manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure optimal performance and appearance.

For cars, the installation time depends on the size of the vehicle. Typically, the standard process to complete a high-quality installation for a SEDAN takes about 2 hours or more. Larger vehicles such as MPVs or SUVs with more windows require longer to complete the entire vehicle tinting.

For construction projects, if required, HyperGard experts will send technicians to the site to consult, measure, quote and provide an estimate of the working time.

HyperGard window films are manufactured to last for many years. The exact length of time depends on the type of film applied, the orientation of the window, the type of glass applied, and the specific climate in which the film is applied. Most product codes last well beyond the warranty period.

HyperGard window films are designed to reduce the amount of solar heat transmitted through window glass by increasing solar reflectance (not necessarily visible reflection) and solar absorption through the glass. Typical tinted or dyed films work primarily through increased absorption. Tint absorbs solar energy at the glass, thereby reducing direct transmission to the interior. These films are not as effective at reducing heat as reflective films. Reflective films are precision metalized films.
